Long Live the Mayor

Ok, so far in the first 19 minutes we see two important men return to town, one we know and one we don’t. The first we see pull into town in Jake’s car, which has been fixed to almost new state! He gets out of the car, and walks right into the court house, while across the street Heather and Emily are talking about Jake. Emily sees this man, and begins to get visibly upset. The man walks inside the police station and asks about Bailing out a ‘friend’ (Mitch) and this is where everyone realizes who is speaking, and then Jake walks into the room.

Turns out this man has a past that is attached in a violent way to Jake and Heather.

Meanwhile , the other surprise person to come back to town is Gary, who had gone out with the others to see what was left of the world. He brings bad news about Washington being gone, but tells everyone about how New York was able to stop three guys before they pulled the switch ( here we have a major hint, I think , about terrorism???)

Jonah, the mystery man who came to town, turns out to be Emily’s dad, the history he and Jake and Emily share? A botched robbery where someone named Chris died, and Emily’s Dad blames Jake.

Turns out that this Jonah, along with Mitch and his gang, have the stolen food that Dale had found on the train, and he wants a trade of the food for Mitch, which Jake agrees to , but Gray gets that nixed with the idea being that a deal would be the towns downfall.

During the Halloween party in town that night, Mitch is broken out of jail at gun point, and Gray grabs a gun to stop him and his buddies from getting away, no thoughts to the kids and others who are in the streets, or the retaliation that will surely follow a move like that. Jake stops him before he can get a shot off at Mitch.

The next day two more scenarios happen, one with Dale and Gracie and the other with Stanley and his new house guest have words when he has to tell her that DC is gone, she doesn’t take it well, thankfully at the end of the show they make up.

I will leave this at the place where Jake and Eric have to leave town for medicine and Emily has to give up her freedom from her Father to get the towns supplies back and also in the bargain,Jake’s car. Before Jake and Eric leave town, Heather does what she should have done before, she lets Jake know exactly how she feels about him, and he seems a bit surprised, but happy about her attention.

I will post the rest of tonight’s show tomorrow, seems I feel prey to some cold going around, sorry I tried to hold on. See you all tomorrow

good night

Alright, back to my discussion of last nights show.

Toward the end of the show, we see an interesting bit about Hawkins and his wife. They are discussing in the living room, why they seem so distant to each other, and we find out that he was separated from his wife, and that during that separation she had found some friendship with someone new. Hawkins is not happy about it, but he seems to keep his mouth to himself. Later he finds her at the bar, and tells her she has had enough to drink and needs to come home.  SHe refuses, and they finally get to really talk about her one question, why did he come back to get her to leave Washington DC before the bombs. And he tells her because she was/is still his wife. This has to be the first time  that I felt my resolve to not like him slipping, and confirms that I am not a great judge of character after all.

Hawkins better watch out, because Gray told Eric that he noticed allot of new faces in town, and specifically mentions Hawkins and his family, and how Hawkins had enough cash to buy their house just before the war began. Now with Eric and Jake gone to find medicine for their Dad in a town somewhere, Gray is going to be running things in Town ( thanks Eric for asking the nut to watch the place)  and he has been displaying some tyrant type behaviors ( for lack of better words here) since the beginning.

On my scale of 1 to 10, I have to give this episode a 6.

I still think its too much of a soap opera, but I am beginning to see that this whole story is not going to be about outside terrorists, but about internal terrorism, and how we deal would deal with it. I am glad to see that New York was able to save themselves, I think it would have tacky to say New York was involved.

Until next week folks, you can always post here, if you feel an urge :-)
