I hope that everyone has a wonderful evening trick or treating with thier kids, and that everyone has a safe night!

A side interest

I decided to post about a side interest I have become involved in recently, that pertains to Jericho in that it concerns a movie, how is that for close? ;-)

I have become acquainted with a screenplay called Return to Everlong, which is a Thriller/Drama . This is a story line that I have not heard before, and that is saying something because in my house every movie that comes out gets viewed, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. So, I can say in all honesty that I have not come across a movie with this story premise.

Imagine being convicted of a crime that you did not commit because of something horrible you committed in your past, your past life!
I am including a link here, so that if you are interested you can read further and comment on what you think of the screenplay becoming a movie. And no, I did not write this :-) just helping someone get it into as many hands as possible, and if you become involved, you may be able to get a commission! So go check out this webpage and let me know what you think.

This is a bit before the show starts, got a bit sidetracked at the IMDb website, there was a trailer there for the movie Eargon which starts December 15th in theaters! I love anything to do with Dragons, my favorite of all is the Pern books, if you have never read, and you love dragons, these are a MUST! well, gotta go watch the show, be back with my thoughts right after :-)

9:00 pm edit

Well, I am beginning to believe the coup theory I have seen posted on a forum, if New York was left alone, but Denver, Atlanta, San Diego ( all towns of known installations or Federal Building locations) and Washington DC are gone, seems to make a lot of sense. When the two missiles were launched we see Hawkins on the laptop, talk ing to someone, and he asks “was it our target or theirs?” and the reply we see is “I’m compromised”.

The story after this, took a nose dive. I am sorry, but I think there is too much time being spent of “soap opera” type story line. If they ( the writers ) continue on this way, this might be the end of the show. I am sure I am no different from the other viewers, and I wait all week for five minutes of show.

The part of the show where Stanley is accused of stealing the pesticides, beside solidifying that Gracie is somewhat of a stingy person, did little for the story line.

At one point we watch as Hawkins daughter goes down to the basement, where Hawkins has his ‘office’, looking for her Dad. She knocks, once at the outer door, and when she gets no answer, she opens that door, and knocks on the second metal door. Getting no answer, she opens it, and goes inside. Here she discovers Hawkins guns, and more importantly the map showing the attacked cities, and his laptop. She opens the laptop, and there is Jakes face on the screen. She turns around to find her dad standing there, and when he takes her outside of the room, she confronts him about the fact that the laptop is still working. He tells her that its the kind that is protected from the EMP, and then says ” it is the kind the government gives out.” When she asks about the gun, he tells her its for shooting, and that she will need to know how to use it. Mom then comes down to see if there is trouble between them, Hawkins says they are just catching up, and its left at that. Later we see Dad teaching her outside how to use the gun, on music cd’s, sadly one of which is Vanilla Ice.( writers note – can we leave the poor guy alone now, its been over 15 years now already :-)

Now on to the story of Mitch and his gang, we know that he and Jake have a history of violence, murder and who knows what else. They don’t like each other, and when Mitch takes the horses at his parents ranch, almost killing Jakes mom, well that makes things worse between them. After Gail decided to let Dale and the other kid get some “rehab” as she called it, and help with the corn harvest at Stanley’s farm , we see how the towns people have come together to help each other as well as Stanley. During the community gathering in the corn fields, we see Hawkins talking to his daughter and she asks , is Jake a good man or a bad man and Hawkins says there is no such man.

I do not like how this epidsode ended, leaving me wanting more story about the , well , story. Less soap opera, lets hear what is going on on the outside of Kansas, there are just too few clues for us. After all, this is about WWIII, right? But as I said in the beginning of my edit, I do think we are looking at a coup of some sort, Hawkins has been elevated out of my vault of suspicion of terrorist, but is he a part of this coup, if that is what it is? Lets do a show with the five W’s… who , what, where, when and WHY!

As I say after each show, if I have flubbed any points here, let me know.

rating for tonights show – 5 out of 10 :-(

The CBS video of upcoming show

I went to the CBS website to view the video of October 25th show, and could not get the player to connect. I wonder if its just my PC or the websites problem? I am anxious to see what the show will have, I see something about the EMP, which I know a tiny bit about, well, enough to know I don’t want to live near where one goes off.

We’re talking about high intensity gamma rays, which are the mass destroyers of life from what I recall of my Astronomy class. Anyway, I found this site, which is too technical for me to get into my head, at least in one sitdown, so I will revisit later. I did think someone might want to do a further read, and would appreciate the link, so here it is.  The website is called Federation of American Scientists, has much to read on effects of Nuclear war, the after effects of the different radiations, and how to treat. A good read, as far as I can tell.

Two more days, until I get to see what happens next….. can’t wait :-)

Episode 5 Federal Response…

OK I hate to admit this, but tonight’s episode was not what I had hoped, as a matter of fact, the last three shows have become a wait for the last five minutes , just to see the “meat” of next weeks show, disappointing. I am not saying the show is not promising, but please either make the show last more than an hour, or at least put more of next weeks meat into this weeks show! Maddening, that is what it is, but I love it still.
The events that grabbed my attention most, was the fact that somewhere, in some secret location, some person will be turning power back on, just so we can see a screen with alert pasted on it? Hope that we get more than that. And when the television turned briefly to a shot of the Presidential Podium, well, where was he? As a matter of fact, I don’t know if I would be comforted to see my president standing there, I would rather the next time I see him, it would be in a fighter unit of some Army battalion or something military.

OK, got side tracked for a few, just the sight of the those long lost from memory bombs we all have in our yards ( for those who live in the Midwest that is) flying through the sky…… warmed my heart. This means the show is about to name someone as culprit , but who? I don’t see the show stepping on too many toes, or would it even be in good conscience to do so? Will it be, instead of real foe we are facing today, some made up group?

I think that Jake is obviously a person who has military training, which we got to see a glimpse of tonight when Hawkins was hacking into the Gov web for personnel files. I still think he is a bad person, something is not right about him, if he was a good guy, how could he have left Denver KNOWING that a bomb was to land, letting countless people die a horrid death?

There was really not much to talk about in tonight’s show, up to the last five minutes anyway, so this will be a short entry , if you all want to discuss this, please leave comments, I am hoping that this will soon become CBS community page, since none is up at the shows website. Look how well LOST has done with their on-line community at the networks website.

Until later, sleep well America. Remember it is the soldiers and sailors and all armed forces everywhere who make sure you can, as they have and always will.

Some terms I learned today are……sheeple and survie

Ok, upon reading the posts to a group on the net about Jericho, I learned some new terms, tags, or what ever you call them these days, in my day we called them derogatory names. Today I learned that some folks are calling others “sheeple”. Sheeple , from what I can gather, follow blindly and have no thoughts to what might be coming down the pike, ie: Nukes  hitting and other catrastrophic events. Sheeple will wait around after the bombs drop, to be told what to do, like well, like Sheep.
I admit, I was a bit miffed at first. I mean, who would not be at being called something so silly sounding as Sheeple? But, I think now that I see what the name really means, to some we folks who are like the silly grasshopper in the story , are not doing our share to become prepared, and when the storm comes, or rather nuclear winter comes, we will be hitting up the ants, who are termed “survies” on this group.

To be a sheeple, well its a bit demoralizing but it should make us think. Did you even know that there was a collection of people out in the world, who spend time thinking up names for other people , and then gave meetings online to call us those names behing our backs?

Do I sound paranoid? :-) That is ok, a little paranoia goes along way, ;-)

more later  I am off to sleep now, too much internet for me.

Episode four – Walls of Jericho

Well, the man that Jake and Heather find is not on the side of the road, he is actually inside the pharmacy, where he had broken in, maybe to get some drugs for pain. He is taken to the clinic by Jake ,Heather, Stanley, and Eric. Once at the clinic, the man ( Victor Miller, as we later learn) is treated by Eric’s wife. He is badly burned, barely hanging on for dear life. He manages when questioned the first time, to stammer that “they” are coming. Jake and the others want to know who these others are, but cant get any more from Victor.

Meanwhile at the Bar ( where I would be , in case of a bombing of my country) the TV is showing a loop, of what someone says seems to be Cincinnati, people are running away in terror. This is all that plays on the TV now.

Soon, we see that both the bar and the clinic are running out of gas. Jake and Heather come up with the idea of getting gas from the local station.

Jake, Stanley and Heather all go to gather gas from one of the local stations. The station manager is reluctant at first to give them the gas, but Jake explains to him that no one is around anymore to give him grief for giving up the gas. The three use a pump and siphon about 500 gallons into a large metal container, which Heather is not too happy about, due to the explosive draw backs. They are successful and we see them drive the gas back to town, and not a second to soon, since the generator at the clinic had given up the ghost, leaving Jake’s mother to give our poor survivor Victor, mouth to mouth. As soon as Jake, Heather and Stanley get back to the clinic, they realize the top of the container is stuck, and Heather cautions them that they can not just move the top with allot of vibrations, since that is what the gas has been doing the whole ride back to town and had built up allot of fumes. As she is saying this, Stanley just takes a pole and bashes it into the top , making it come right off, with no explosions. He then says, “that was stupid”. They get the gas into the clinics generator, and all the lights and machines come back on. This also lets poor Victor get one more chance as well. One of the local police officers, Jimmy, comes to Hawkins, asking for his help in securing peace before all hell breaks loose in town. He is reluctant but accepts, in my opinion from a personal gain point. Hawkins and Jimmy go to Skylar Stevens house, where she and her friends are having a party. They are there to talk with her about her use of too much gas to make power, since someone had complained. Jimmy kicks all the kids out, and Hawkins sees his daughter there. She tried to hide her face from him, but that did not work. He tells her to get home, and she leaves.

The other part of the two remaining Jericho Police force, Bill radios that he has found Shep’s truck and wants Jake and the others to come to it. When Jake, Hawkins and Billy arrive at the truck, they see the window has been smashed out, and inside is a coat with of all things a wallet in it. This wallet belongs to none other than our mysterious stranger Victor. The men decide that they need to find out what Victor knows about Shep, what happend to him and such, and they go back to the clinic to question him. Here we see yet again, that Hawkins is not who he seems or says he is. He convinces Eric and the others that they need to question Victor , and that he can do this by giving Victor an Adrenaline shot, which Jake is in opposition to doing. Eric over rules by agreeing to it, but Jake says he wants to be in the room with Hawkins and Victor. We see Hawkins giving the shot to Victor, and he jolts awake. When he looks at Hawkins, we are made sure that there is something sinister going on, the look in his eyes is of terror. He manages to tell Jake that his little girl and some others are at a lake outside of town, and need help. He begins to succumb to the painful burns, and Hawkins tells Jake he needs morphine for the pain. Jake leaves to get some, and that is where Hawkins makes his move, and leans over Victor saying, ” We said families only!” Ahhhhh, the plot thickens, as someone I can not recall used to say.

Now we have more questions, who is the “WE” Hawkins is talking about? My husbands theory is that this is some group who is about a cleansing, that these folks ( of whom Hawkins and Victor are a part of) knew these bombs were going to go off, and maybe Victor was back in Denver when he should not have been. Victor also tells Hawkins that there was a “traitor” in the group, and that he ( Hawkins) knows who it is…. but he gives no name.
Poor Victor tells Hawkins he had to go back, something about saving people. And then we see or we are lead to think, Hawkins either kills Victor, or Victor dies of his illness. I think Hawkins finished him off personally.

Jake and some of the people from the bar ( after much convincing on Jake’s part) go to the lake outside of town, hoping to help these folks that Victor said were there and needed help. Sadly, when Jake and the others get to the lake area, all are dead. They bury the victims there by the lake and return to town. Later that night, the Mayor and the towns people gather at a church, to remember the people at the lake, as well as all the people who have died or are missing due to the attacks. He said something that was interesting and worth remembering now, that this was more than a battle for their survival, it was also a battle for their humanity.

Toward the end we see Hawkins back on that PC and he is conversing in an email type program to a mysterious other , typing “we have a traitor”. He hears someone come down to the basement, where he has his secret lab type room, and he ends his transmission and comes out to find his son coloring. Hawkins asks him, where did you go to school Sam? Sam gives the correct answer, and Hawkins asks a few other questions which Sam answers each time, you do. Until the final question, which was who will take care of you always, and Sam answers Mom will. This hurts Hawkins a bit, and I say good because I don’t like him.

All in all, I am still firmly hooked on this show. And this episode was more true it seemed than the last. Maybe I am too easily wooed, who knows. I am very interested to know what the Dept of Homeland security is on the phone stating that the people are not to attempt to leave, as we saw in the views of next weeks show.

whew, that was allot of typing, and hopefully I got it all correct. Any places where I did not, let me know and we can fix. What did you all think???????

New yahoo group for Jericho

I say that this show could give Lost a run for its money, even though I do like Lost, well I did until the end of the last season…. then it kind of got too X-files for me. I have a feeling that Jericho can be better.

There is a Yahoo group that is really well populated for a new show, I have made one as well, but I dont know if people will want to join a second group, we will have to wait and see. The link for the Yahoo group is listed in the links section.

I have been looking around the Yahoo group I mentioned above, and seems like a really involved group, however they don’t seem to be as much in love with the show as I am, or the folks who are into LOST are. But that is not something I think I can gage, until we are more into the show. I seem to recall that Lost was a bit slow at first with the fans.

A few things I am curious about

Who is the ex cop from St. Louis, really, and what does he have in his barrel that he is hiding? Did I miss something because I feel like I did. And why would Jake help Emily? She treats him like dirt, and yes I realize … extreme pressure here, but still. Well, he does let on at the towns barbeque that he owes he alot more. Wonder what that is all about. I thought that at a few points last night it got a tiny bit cheesy, not really what I wanted from this show, but I am prepared to stick this out.

I can’t wait for next wednesday so that I can get who this man is that they find on the side of the road, and who the heck are the “THEY” he spoke of????????? Who dropped the bombs? Does it matter who did it? And where the heck is the government protection we hope for?
